The Ghazi Attack has been on my must-watch list since the day its trailers started pouring in. It is inspired by true events from the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. I was amazed when I first heard about this war. This attack was classified and it happened before I was even born, but the valor shown by the navy moved me to the core.
So at last, I decided to watch the film despite the deadlines at work. Released on 17th February 2017, The Ghazi Attack is directed by an experienced director Sankalp Reddy. Being a war film and inspired by true events, it was a gripping tale involving so many different layers of emotions, majorly patriotism. I watched the movie at Spice Cinemas, Noida – 8:40 PM show!
I won't get into the details of how the hall was or how the people there were! I will instead move on to tell you all how the film was.
The most amazing thing about this film was that there was no digression. At no point, during the entire film, the audience would feel the need for any romance, any typical Bollywood songs or drama! It’s a clear cut war film and simply focuses on that. The cinematography is amazing! The entire movie is majorly shot in the submarine, so don’t expect beautiful sceneries and things like that.
With a star cast that includes Om Puri (Admiral Indian Navy), Kay Kay Menon (Ranvijay Singh, Captain S21), Rana Daggubati (Arjun Varma, Lt. Commander S21), Atul Kulkarni (Devraj, Executive Officer S21) and others, the movie has managed to create an impact. Though Taapsee Pannu’s role (Ananya, Doctor turned Refugee) isn’t that big, but she manages to leave a mark. I was mostly impressed with Kay Kay Menon’s and Rana Daggubati’s performances. Their dialog delivery was well-timed and they were into their characters.
The film is intense and gripping. It totally captivates you. I felt frozen in my seat, unable to move even after the film ended. The pain in Kay Kay Menon’s eyes and the anger in Rana Daggubati’s eyes followed me as I walked outside the theater.
Every scene was rightly shot and gave me goosebumps. Throughout the film I was thinking how extraordinary our soldiers are! They knew it was a classified mission, they won’t get any recognition and yet they fought. And they fought under water, at the depth of 300 mts. Imagine, if you were to go that deep!!!
Overall, I would say no one should give this movie a miss.
