Dangal: Movie Review

Bollywood is fighting with every new movie is coming up. Now a day, I see only biopics and sports based movies on board. If any film maker is producing something different, then the audience is not interested in watching it. Today I shall be reviewing a movie, which has been a talk of the town from the day it has got released in theaters. We all recognize Aamir Khan as a perfectionist but this man really gets nervous when any of his movie is going to be released.

I was watching Koffee with Karan the other day where Aamir was the guest. He was later accompanied by the young talents, who are sharing the big screen with him. I am mentioning about it here because the nervousness I saw on Aamir’s face was little disturbing for me. A person, who is perfect in everything can’t be showcased like this.

Anyway, let’s come back to today’s post. DANGAL is the center of attraction at present. There have been a lot of movies, which featured sports and the hardships the players have gone through. But, DANGAL is a bit different from those movies. It is a movie of 2 sisters, who are not willing to take up wrestling as their profession. On the other hand, they have a strict father, who want his daughters to stand out in the crowd. He wants them to succeed like any other boy would simply do.

DANGAL is a movie of desi pehalvaani which later takes a turn in the lives of those 2 girls. From akhada they went to learn wrestling professionally. The movie is of serious genre but one man will surely make you laugh throughout. Do not worry! I am going to tell you about him further.

Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) is the father of those 2 girls. The role of elder daughter is being played by Fatima Sana Shaikh. The name of her character is Geeta Phogat. Fatima made her debut in the movie Chachi 420 as a small kid. She waited for long enough to get a big break in the industry and now she is acting with Aamir Khan. The role of younger daughter is being played by Sanya Malhotra. Her name in the movie is Babita Kumari. The add on to this family is Mahavir Singh’s wife. Daya Shobha Kaur (Sakshi Tanwar) played the said role and she has done a tremendous job.

Apart from these talented actors, there is one more actor, who was the shaan of the movie, according to me. Aparshakti Khurrana played the role of Omkar. His voiceover and comic timing is the best thing to see in the movie. I am his biggest fan, which you must be knowing if you follow me on social media channels. He has made the entire cinema hall laugh their heart out. And trust me, after watching DANGAL, you will surely become his fan.

The roles of young Geeta and Babita are played by Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar respectively. Both these girls have acted beautifully. According to me, the makers have ignored the Haryanavi language very badly. Except Apar, there was not even a single character who did justice to the language. Being from Haryana, it made me sad. Here, the points go to the movie SULTAN.

Overall, the movie is a must watch, especially, if you want to laugh as well with the seriousness of the movie genre. I had a great time watching it. But before I end this review, I want to request you something. Whenever you hear our National Anthem, do not hesitate to stand up and show some respect. When I went to watch the movie, it was only me (along with my friend) in the entire theater, who stood up during that scene. Kindly, do not ignore it.

Rating: 3.75/5
