'YAMA' by Kevin Solomon Missal: Book Review

Reading has always cheered up both my mind and mood. I have always been a romance reader and this time I hesitated a little to read something new. For the first time (I think) I am reading a book with new flavors of thrill and suspense. A book written by Kevin Solomon Missal, he is a mind blowing writer for sure. Let me jump forward with the review, let's move on.

'YAMA' is the book, which will entertain you thoroughly throughout your journey of reading. I received this book a while ago and as I was occupied with a lot of pending work, it took me some time to start on with this book. But the day I started reading this book, I didn't put it aside even for a second. I was so attached with this book as it is been plotted in an interesting way by the author KEVIN. As always, I'll be telling you about the main characters of this book and then an overview on the same.

IRAVAN RAJPOOT: Iravan is the main hero in this book. He is an army person, an ex black commando, who is now a detective. He solves the issues related to crime and cases of famous people to earn a living. He has a lovely wife and 2 children. He is a man who believes in forgiving others even if they have committed a serious crime. But at the same time, he punishes that person by giving the culprit to the police. In this book, his role is to save people, for which he has given a letter with time limit every time. Is he able to save the lives of these people?

YAMA: Yama is another main character of this book. He is a violent saint who punishes people who have done wrong with the world in any manner. He punished the sinners the same way as described in the 28 hells of Bhagavat Gita. He is strong enough to fight with the world of sinners. But why he is killing people? Is there something bothering him, for which he has to kill people in the name of punishing the sinners.

SWATI KAUSHIK: A reporter who can do anything to earn fame and money. She is a widow and an alcoholic. She is a woman who wants to know about YAMA, who is always helping her to step ahead in her career and earn all the success she always wanted to earn. She tried throughout to reach out to him and almost knew who he is, but will she able to chase him?

TAPASVA GANDHI: Tapasva is a counselor of Iravan. He listens to Iravan, who always discuss everything with this counselor. He has a very strong character in this book, but for that you need to read the book. As I don't want to ruin the suspense and the plot of this story.

My take on the book 'YAMA':

Kevin is a smart writer. The plot of this book is filled with thrill and suspense. Yama is the book, which showcases the reality of the society. No matter if you are a good person or a bad one, the bottom line is you need to pay for your sins in this world itself. If you are a person who is a sinner, then you don't have to go to any hell after death, rather you'll pay for all your sins in this birth only. The whole world is bound with legal formalities, and because of which sinners are not punished. They go through all the paper work but then at the end, all the sinners are free.

This book is a perfect balance of Indian mythology and login. With lots of twists and turns of the story, your attention will be intact till you finish the book. Yama acts like a god of justice (or you can say death), who punishes such sinners in the exact way as it is written in the Bhagavat Gita. Yama is a strong character of this book, who wants to flush out all the dirt from the society. It is true that the society is never free of corruption and sinners but here Yama plays an important role. He is a normal person but then the thorns in his hands, the black paint all over his body and muscular physique makes him different yet strong.

This book, which is a complete thriller will entertain you for sure. I loved the way Kevin organised this book in 150 pages. The short and crisp chapters with simple language are few plus points for a reader who is a beginner.
